Talent . Part of your talents comes when you are born, and the remaining part is developed during your life. Your ambition to study abroad tells me that you did fairly well in your elementary school, middle and high schools, and even in the undergradute program at your university. This means you were born with talents good enough for you to be successful. As to the remaining part of your talents, it includes 3 major aspects: Vision, Knowledge and Ability to Stay in Course . Your need to set your destiny or goals based on your needs and their feasibility with your abilities, aquire real and broad knowledge, discover the special talent, or gift, that you possess and commit yourself to its growth.
Hard work . Hard work is essential in every success. However, applying it effectively in practice is not an easy thing to do. Some people believe that working 16 hours or more everyday will lead to their destiny. Indeed, the people who measure time in minutes have 60 times more time than those who measure it in hours. And putting enough time on study or work everydday and utilizing one's time effectively are important aspects of hard work. But that is not all. Producing results with hard work over time takes understanding, descipline, and effort. You need to learn lessons from your mistakes and experience (at the end of everyday, ask yourself: What did you achieve today), and develop methods or approaches that work for you. That is, hard work must be accompanied by right methods for it to be productive. You should not just wish and hope things will turn out okay. Create a plan and put it into action. Decide what it takes, and if they are worth it, go for it. Do not let another day pass without putting your own plan into action. Make this as your everyday habit.
Opportunity . Opportunity also includes luck. Not all people are created equal in front of opportunities and luck, especially in countries where there is no law that prohibits racial discrimination in various aspects of life and work. One can create opportunities. You need to rely on your talent and hard work to create opportunities for yourself, especially in countries mentioned above. Blaming the political system and others for your not having the opportunities does not have any practical value, because that does not help to solve your problems. You must have the courage and strength to remove it when a high mountain comes into your way, and fill it when a deep valley comes into way. There is no a straight and easy path to opportunities and to your destiny. You must keep working until you create opportunities and realize your dreams. I have a friend who went to the US Embassy in Beijing 8 times within a time period of 2 years, and he finally got his visa. If you do not try, and do not keep trying, the probability for you to achieve something is zero.
