Abdulhemit Karahan’s Short Biography

Abdulhemit was born in 1980 and grew up in Atchapar Village of Maralbeshi which is near Kashgar in the Uyghur Autonomous Region.

XJAU & LZU: He excelled in the National College Entrance Exams in 1998 and earned the number one position in the Maralbeshi and the number three position in all of the Kashgar prefecture, and received excellent grades in high school. With this kind of performance he was accepted into Lan Zhou University (LZU) (http://www.lzu.edu.cn/) which is the top rated university in China. It is known for its Chemistry and Physics departments both in China and in the USA. Thus he first had to learn the Chinese language which he studied for two years at Urumchi Agricultural University (XJAU) (http://www.xjau.edu.cn/). Following his graduation from XJAU, he studied Nuclear Chemistry at Lan Zhou University (LZU) for four years, and finished his undergraduate studies as a top student in his class and with honor in 2004.

IU, KOCU & ITU: 15.10.2004, he began to study abroad in Turkey for his graduate study, and he had to first study the Turkish language. Therefore, he was assigned to Istanbul University (IU)(http://www.istanbul.edu.tr/) in Turkey to study the Turkish Language for 7 months. He finished his language studies with honors in 2005. Following these studies he was assigned to Kucaeli University (http://www.kocaeli.edu.tr/) in Izmit city to study Chemical Engineering for a two years graduate Program by the Turkish High Education Commission. However, he gave up studies in the Kucaeli University and applied for the graduate program of Nuclear Energy Science & Technology (NEST) in Istanbul Technical University(ITU) (http://www.itu.edu.tr/) in Istanbul, and was accepted by ITU Institude of Energy( http://www.energy.itu.edu.tr/). In the two years of his graduate studies, he worked very hard. He spent more than 14 hours a day on the average to study, and became a top student in his class starting in his second year. He has just graduated from ITU Institute of Energy, and got his MS degree in Nuclear Energy Engineering.  He left a good and deep impression to Turkish professors.

ITU is one of the top three universities in Turkey. ITU was established in 1773, during the time of the Ottoman Sultan Mustafa III. With a history stretching back 227 years, providing technical education within a modern educational environment and strong academic staff, ITU is strongly identified with architectural and engineering education in Turkey. Both Turkish and English languages are used in ITU.

Finally, there are not any Uyghur Scientists in the Nuclear Science & Technology (NST). The Uyghur people needs many highly educated Uyghur youth in the Nuclear Science & Technology.
